The highly regarded Engineers of Tomorrow competition is designed to recognise and showcase the next generation of security and fire systems installers from across the UK. The competition helps to raise the profile of engineering apprenticeships and the opportunity they represent within the sector. 36 finalists, 18 for fire and 18 for security, will compete each day at the show – don’t miss them! Read more about the finalists here.
There are two separate competitions – one for electronic security systems, and the other for fire systems. The 2022 live installation challenge takes place at IFSEC and FIREX International. The winners of Engineers of Tomorrow will proceed to the WorldSkills UK LIVE competition – the nation’s premier skills, apprenticeships and careers event.
The Engineers of Tomorrow competition is taking place on Stand IF2450 at IFSEC. Please see the schedule below:
Both the electronic security and the fire competition will be represented at WorldSkills UK – underlining their value as part of the the wider UK skills sector.
The programme has a real impact on people, with 90% of previous entrants saying their career progression improved after competing, and 86% stating their personal and employability skills had improved.
Stakeholders involved in the IFSEC & FIREX Engineers of Tomorrow competition are Skills for Security, CSL, NSI, SSAIB, and Texecom Academy, with additional support from the BSIA, FIA and BAFE. Several manufacturers have also demonstrated their own commitment to the event.
As part of a three-year commitment to the highly respected competition, Hikvision, Texecom and CSL have all donated equipment to be used in the heats, whilst UK-based fire alarm manufacturer C-TEC have donated products for the fire competition as part of a number of initiatives it has underway to help upskill people that are new to the industry.
